Dr. Rao graduated from The George Washington University School of Medicine with Distinction and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of California – San Diego. Dr. Rao then completed a Preventive and Integrative Cardiology Fellowship at the Scripps Medical Center in La Jolla, California. He went on to complete his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Georgetown University/ Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Rao's philosophy is to deliver the highest level of compassionate care focusing on disease prevention but also to provide state of the art knowledge to treat illness.
He strongly believes that providing excellent medical care involves being accessible with a focus on listening to the patient’s concerns and then using his medical knowledge and experience to deliver the best medical treatment plan. Dr. Rao understands the importance of coordinating care and referring to exceptional physicians.
Dr. Rao has held numerous leadership roles in the Naples medical community which has provided him special insights to provide better care for his patients. These positions have also allowed him to make strong professional and collegial relationships with the top specialists in Naples.
He also has developed strong bi-directional referral relationships with many internationally recognized experts at leading institutions around the country.
He has received numerous awards and recognitions including being selected as the American Heart Association Golden Heart winner in 2020, the recipient of the NCH Physician of the Year award in 2018, a Collier County Medical Society Physician of the Year nominee in 2019 and 2020, and he has been named to Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors every year since 2014.
